Human-Centered Information Spaces (HCIS)

We envision a future in which the existing world of documents and applications is linked to multiscale personalised information spaces in which dynamic visual entities behave in accordance with cognitively motivated rules sensitive to the context of tasks, personal and group interaction histories of activity.

Managing Ideas in Creative Work

Managing Ideas in Creative Work examines the role and nature of tools that designers use to capture, manage, and develop ideas. The aim is develop a conceptual framework for understanding how tools influence how we manage and work with ideas in practice, specifically in the domain of design.

PLACED

The PLACED project introduces a new type of place- and activity-centric digital library services. PLACED services support activities in the library and will help break down the institutional walls of the library and make it an integrated part of urban life by creating an ever-evolving collection built on urban activities and knowledge generation.

Soundscapes in Authentic Buildings

The most powerful part of a museum is the authentic experience. In this project, Aarhus University will collaborate with three Danish cultural history museums to explore sound as design material and focus on materialising the sound ideas on which the desired museum experience is based.

Reinvent

Reinvent seeks to develop a participatory innovation platform for rethinking society during and after the COVID-19 pandemic to create a catalogue of examples of how we can approach activities in our work and private lives in new ways, such as events and conferences, remote learning, and our use of public spaces.

CoCreate

Digital tools systems play an increasingly central role in human creativity. In the project, we will both study the benefits and shortcomings of digital tools used in creative work today, and combine this knowledge with insights from humanistic IT research to develop and deploy prototypes of novel digital tools that present meaningful alternatives to how we can integrate digital tools in the creative process.

Shareable Dynamic Media in Design and Knowledge Work

This project establishes an interdisciplinary research group at Digital Design and Information Studies and CAVI with the objective of identifying and articulating the challenges design and knowledge workers face in their use of software. The work of the group is an iterative interplay between theoretical and technical work and studies of and interventions in real work.

Value Sensitive Design in Higher Education (VASE)

VASE is a three years project funded by Erasmus+ aimed to design, develop, pilot test and implement research-based and innovative teaching resources for teaching value sensitive design approaches to students at university level.

Creative Tools

Creative Tools is a 3-year research project funded by the Aarhus University Research Foundation, which explores the interplay between digital tools and creative processes. Across a range of domains, including architecture, design, digital arts, and scientific exploration, the project examines how digital tools influence creative processes.

Shareable Dynamic Media in Hybrid Meetings

Hybrid meetings are meetings where multiple co-located participants communicate with remote participants through video. In this project, we empirically document the challenges of hybrid meetings and through prototyping experiment with new tools to support this type of meetings better.

PAST PROJECTS

Creativity in Blended Interaction Spaces (CIBIS)

The CIBIS project develops and explores blended interaction spaces for supporting and developing the creative potential of young people at the high school level with an interdisciplinary collaboration among researchers from the computer sciences, interaction design, and creativity research.
